Most of the garage doors we work on in Brentwood aren't the thin, light panels you find in older parts of the service area. The housing stock here centers around 2003, which means a lot of two-car and three-car garages built with wider steel sectional doors - heavier, taller, and usually insulated. A door that size doesn't run on a single light spring. It needs torsion springs wound tight enough to lift real weight, and that extra tension is exactly what shortens the life of the spring. These doors see more open-close cycles too, since a lot of these houses have three-car layouts where one bay gets used daily for a work vehicle. More cycles, more wound-up tension, more wear on the coil - that's the pattern we see out here more than in the older neighborhoods closer to Antioch.
